Questions, a report that missed, or a purchase that didn't go through: write to us and a real person will reply, usually within one working day. If something isn't working, tell us your iPhone model and iOS version.

Getting started

Do we both need the app? No. Mezzo runs on one phone. Each of you reads the consent screen and taps your own name on that phone, and one subscription covers both of you.

How does a session work? Open Mezzo, both tap your name, and each of you says hi so Mezzo can tell your voices apart. Then talk the way you normally would, in the moment or afterwards. Tap "We're done" and the report is ready in a minute or two.

Recording won't start. Mezzo needs the microphone. Open your iPhone's Settings, scroll to Mezzo and turn on Microphone. If another app is using the microphone, such as a call, close it first.

A line was credited to the wrong person. Telling two voices apart is the hardest part. It works best when you both say hi clearly at the start, sit about the same distance from the phone, and avoid TV or music in the background.

Chat reports

How do I export a WhatsApp chat? On iPhone, open the chat, tap the name at the top, scroll down, tap Export Chat and choose Without Media. Save it to Files, then pick it in Mezzo under Read your texts.

What about Telegram or iMessage? Mezzo reads the WhatsApp layout. Other apps need a .txt export made on a computer first.

Subscriptions and refunds

Bought in the iPhone app. Apple handles billing. To cancel, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, then Mezzo, or use "Manage subscription" under You two in the app. Cancelling stops the next renewal and you keep Plus until the end of the period you paid for. Refunds for App Store purchases are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

New phone, or Plus not showing? In the app, go to You two and tap Restore purchases while signed in with the same Apple ID.

Your data

Reports, transcripts and names live on your phone only. Audio and messages pass through our server for transcription and analysis and are not stored there. To remove everything, go to You two and tap "Delete all Mezzo data". Either of you can do this at any time. The full details are in the privacy policy.

If you need a person, not an app

Mezzo is a communication coach. It isn't medical or psychological care, and it isn't for emergencies. If one of you ever feels afraid of the other, that's bigger than communication. In the US, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233. Anywhere else, call your local emergency number.
